New Trends Inspired by Vintage Pieces
Ever wonder how designers come up with the next great idea, or the newest trend? Where do they get their inspiration? From the past of course.
Designers shop vintage stores like Back-in-Style.com to gather ideas of elements and styles they want to use in their next collection. They then mix and match all the different elements to create their own unique look. They may take the neckline of one dress, the skirt of another, the details of yet a third, and combine them all together.
Todays trends are usually a mix of many different eras, but sometimes a vintage piece is so fabulous, the designer simply recreates it. Check out how similar these current pieces are to their vintage counterparts.

5 great pieces you must own
It's not very often that you see something in a magazine that isn't trend driven, trying to get your to jump on the band wagon and go buy something that you will only wear for the next few months, and then curse yourself for even buying it, let along wearing it out in public! That being said, I thought this article in Lucky Magazine was actually right on, listing 5 wardrobe staples every woman must have. (The only thing I would have added to the list is a great pair of jeans.)
"If there is any doubt where your wardrobe dollars are best spent, here are some surefire investments- pieces you can count on using for the next five years. "
1. Metallic evening sandals: "There's no need to show a lot of skin to be sexy. Strappy metallic evening shoes do it for you. Wear this with everything from jeans and a sequin top to a little black dress."
2. Sexy Suit: "For a look that's pure power-chic, add a classic black or navy suit to your ensemble. You'll look confident and professional during that job interview, presentation or power lunch." Suits work great as separates too. Wear the jacket over your sequin top and jeans, or the pencil skirt with the sequin top for cocktails.
3. Fancy Earrings: "Fancy chandelier earrings add a touch of glamor to almost any outfit. We like the sophisticated sparkle that can be achieved with the long romantic cluster"
4. Black Leather Bag: "Just big enough for your wallet, keys, and lipstick, a small black leather bag is a must for your wardrobe because it goes with practically everything." Since it is not to big, it easily transitions from day to night.
5. Sequin top: Glittery sequins make every day feel like a special occasion. There's no easier way to add drama to your outfit that with a hot sequin top. Pair it with skinny pants and a sleek blazer or your favorite jeans to add a splash of all-out glitz."
So there you have it, the five great pieces you must own, and they don't even need to be expensive. The fit and the style are more important than the price tag. Be sure they flatter your body, and fit you at your current weight. We aren't going for trends here (none of us can afford that in this economy), we are going for stylish, modern, and chic.

How to pick the most flattering 80s cocktail dresses for your body
80s cocktail dresses are sexy and sassy, and depending on which style you chose, this trend can flatter almost any body type.
Small chest: Choose a sweetheart neckline if you have a small chest. This will show some cleavage. The ruching at the bust also helps make your chest looker fuller than it really is.
Wide hips: Choose a dress with a puffy skirt, or a peplum to disguise your wide hips. A dramatic necklace with a strapless neckline with also draw the eye upwards away from your hips.
Boyish figure: a drop waist dress with instantly give you curves. Strategically places ruffles, bows and ruching also add curves. Try a dress with a large bow at the hip. or with a ruched bust.
Narrow shoulders or bottom heavy: Choose a dress with large shoulder embellishments, and a narrower skirt. This will balance out your lower half, and make your shoulders appear larger, making your waist appear smaller.
Top heavy: wear a dress with the details on the bottom half to draw the eye down. A full skirt will make you look more proportionate. Shorten the length to draw attention to your great legs.
Short torso: A drop waist dress will lengthen your body
Petite: not a problem with 80s dresses since many of them are already so short. A tulip skirt or puffy full skirt is generally very short. Wear with nude platforms for a modern look that makes your legs look longer, and you look taller.
So no matter what your shape, this is one trend you can be a part of. Easy to wear, and in fun bright colors, these 80s cocktail dresses are sure to add some sass to your night.
Laundry Tip: Removing Perspiration Stains
In the heat of the summer, we all worry about ruining our favorite white shirt. Here is an easy tip on how to keep your light colored tops looking fresh.
Dissolve a few tablets of aspirin (white, non coated) in a cup of hot water. Pour over the stain, or if the fabric allows, add cool water and soak the garment. When it looks like the stain has been removed, rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
