Trend Report: Ankle Grazing Retro Floral Print Dresses

Trend Report: Ankle Grazing Retro Floral Print Dresses
From Vintage Shopping Guide
www.VintageShoppingGuide.com

The latest trend in Hollywood being spawned is ankle grazing retro floral print dresses. Doesn’t matter if you choose strapless, halter, or spaghetti strap styles, but empire waist is where it’s at! Let the long fabric drape down loosely all the way to your toes. You can thank stars like Gwen Stefani, Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton and Fergie for bringing this look to the forefront of style. We love this trend because you really can look effortlessly cool wearing your sparkly new sandals, sunglasses and hobo bag. Not to mention that the fit is very forgiving. So, if you haven’t quite kept up with your beach perfect body routine (or if you are unofficially prego!) you can still look like you did!
But wait! Haven’t we seen this look before? Why yes! The 60s and 70s flower children grew up and left us their most fabulous garb! Make it your own by accessorizing with modern pieces. Remember there is nothing worse than “looking” like replayed vintage. Vintage is meant to be re-done in a whole new way with your own personal style added. So run, don’t walk, to your nearest vintage store and beg them un-relentlessly for their stock of long flowy flower print dresses.

Laundry Tip: How to wash sequined or embellished items

So we all love the sequin trend! Sequined mini dresses, embellished tops, beaded sweaters, but it can really be a budget buster if you have to spend $20 dry cleaning your item every time you wear it. Here is an easy trick that will allow you to wash your sequined, beaded and embellished items at home.

Find a cotton pillowcase that is neutral colored. ( You don't want the pillow case to run all over your fabulous item).
Turn your embellished garment inside out and place it inside the pillow case.
Tie a knot as close to the item as you can so that the garment isn't swishing around inside the pillow case. Now you are ready to throw it in the washing machine. Be sure it is on the gentle cycle.
Lay flat to dry.

The pillow case protects your items from getting snagged on other items in the wash, or the machine. Also, since the delicate item is balled up tightly in the pillow case, it prevents your garment from being stretched out, or jostled too much inside the washer, and keeps it from rubbing against itself. The cotton pillow case still allows water and soap to soak through it, so your item will come out in the same condition as it went in, except clean!

VPOD: A Touch of Pucci
While I love Pucci prints, they can be difficult for me to wear because they tend to overpower my little frame. So imagine my delight to find this subdued version!

This 1960s blue-gray jersey dress has just the right amount of a fab Pucci print on the bodice panel and cuffs. And since Pucci dresses usually are all print, it just makes this dress that much more interesting.

And by the way, Sheffield MacIntyre, who's responsible for offering this beauty for sale, is organizing The Miami Vintage Clothing & Accessories Show & Sale on Saturday and Sunday, March 29th and 30th at the Woman's Club of Coconut Grove. The event will feature vintage clothing and accessories from the 1920s through the 1980s from a select group of unique sellers, chosen for the quality and authenticity of their merchandise. But smart vintage fashionistas will mark their calendars for the special Preview Party on Friday, March 28th from 7:00-9:00 pm, where attendees will receive first selection of merchandise, as well as entertainment and complimentary food and drink. For more information, click here.

What fun for a vintage fashionista!

Lace: It's black or white

Not too many things in life are black and white, but this spring, fashion is... black and white lace that is. A little bit naughty, and little bit nice, lace can be anything you want it to be.
Black lace is reminiscent of the bedroom and hints at negligee. It it a great happy hour piece as it transitions easily from day to night. During the day wear it under your suit, at night, just take your jacket off.
White lace is whimsical, and feminine, full of romance and fantasy. Make it modern by wearing it with a bright bold hue, possibly even neon.
No matter what color you choose, go easy on the accessories. Because the pattern in lace is so intricate, you don't need anything else. It will just create visual clutter.
Whether you are feeling naughty or nice, lace is a wardrobe must have this spring. It is that simple, it is black and white.

Back-in-Style.com at Pucci 60th Anniversary Bash

Decked out in vintage Pucci the girls from Back-in-Style.com (me and my 13 niece/apprentice) were busy running around Art Basel last week style watching the interesting mix of people and attending fabulous parties and fashion shows. Of particular interest were the Pucci 60th Anniversary brunch, and the Matthew Williamson for Emilio Pucci Spring Fashion Show at Neiman Marcus, which gave us a preview of the new and different direction the brand will be moving towards. Read more about the brunch below.

Pucci Party on Pine Tree
From Social Miami Sun, 09 Dec 2007 Newsletter
Laudomia Pucci, daughter of legendary fashion designer Emilio Pucci, and Matthew Williamson, Pucci’s creative director, celebrated the 60th anniversary of Emilio Pucci during an exclusive brunch that featured a stunning installation by renowned visual artist Gerard Cholot, who was on hand as well.

The event was held on Pine Tree Drive at the opulent waterfront estate of Norma and Luis Quintero, whose private ballroom was transformed into a tribute to the late fashion designer. Cholot’s creative and interactive installation, which was a recreation of his May ’07 transformation of the Palazzo Pucci’s courtyard, overtook the space as guests mingled amongst the vibrant Pucci designs.

Vintage ties- not just for men anymore!

You probably think that a necktie is only for men, but think again. Tie silk so so brilliant and beautiful it makes a great accessory for a woman. Read on to find out how...
Belt- wrap it through the belt loops and tie it in a knot. Let the ends hang down off center front.
Scarf- tie it around you neck in a loose knot, and just let it hang. You can use any of the various tie knots, or just a regular square knot.
Hair accessory- There are so many options here. Use a tie as a head band. Tie it around your head with the knot hidden under your hear and secure with bobby pins so it won't slide back. Just let the ends hang down your back. If you are wearing your hair up in a pony tail or bun, wrap the tie around and around where the elastic is.
Handbag charm- A tie looks great tie around the handles of your large leather work tote. Tie it in a bow for a feminine touch to trendy men's wear accessories.

No matter how you choose to wear a tie, it is a great way to add some color to your work wardrobe and add a personal touch

Now that you are convinced that all of your friends (girls or guys) need a neck tie, go to www.back-in-style.com and start shopping now. With ties ranging from $10-$65 there is something for everyone's budget.
